Bara Vaida is a veteran Washington, D.C-based journalist who knows how the nation’s capitol works. Click here for my CV.
Through her 30 years as a professional journalist, Bara has learned to navigate the halls of Congress and has gained an in-depth understanding of corporate, economic, and international business issues, health care policy, lobbying, and technology policy. She has worked for some of Washington’s biggest news organizations including National Journal, Agence France-Presse and Bloomberg News and has been a guest on numerous radio and television shows, including, C-SPAN’s Washington Journal, Washington Week with Gwen Ifill and WAMU’s Kojo Nnamdi show.
Bara writes extensively on health care policy, consumer health care issues and infectious diseases. Her stories on the business and legal issues raised by health reform, as well as special interest influence on health care policy, have been published in the McClatchy News Service, MSNBC, National Public Radio, Politico, and the Washington Post. She is also the core topic leader on infectious diseases for the Association of Health Care Journalists.
Bara first got her start in journalism writing for the Times of Trenton, where she covered local business news after graduating from Hamilton College with a major in history.
Through her experience reporting on business, economic, legal and political stories, Bara has developed a network of sources in the business community, on Capitol Hill and in government agencies, enabling her to provide context to readers about some Washington’s biggest news stories.
